Welcome to our Dune Awakening Starter Resource Guide! If you're just getting started in Funcom's survival MMO, knowing which resources to gather—and where to find them—can be the difference between thriving on Arrakis or becoming worm food. This guide is based on a beta build of Dune Awakening, so some content may change, but the core mechanics and locations should remain consistent.

In this guide, we’ll focus on early-game resources found in the Hagga Basin (South) and Vermilious Gap, the first two major zones new players will explore.

Basic Resources in Hagga Basin (South)

  1. Plant Fiber, Granite, and Salvaged Metal
These are your first crafting materials in Dune Awakening. Use them to create basic armor, tools, and weapons.
Where to Find: Scattered throughout Hagga Basin and South, and across the entire map.
    How to Gather:
    • Hand gathering works for smaller pieces.
    • Use a cutteray for larger granite rocks or metal wreckage.
    • Upgrade tools for better efficiency and higher-tier resource collection.

  2. Fuel Cells
Fuel cells are critical for base generators and vehicle fuel.
Found in small quantities across the map or in cube form that requires a cutter.
Also available in loot chests throughout camps, caves, and outposts.

  3. Dew Flower Fields
These are your first reliable hydration source.
Use directly for drinking or later harvest with a crafted Dew Reaper.
Reaper usage is limited to nighttime, with peak yield before dawn.
Dew is also used to fill portable water containers like the Literjohns.

  4. Blood Extraction
    Another water source, albeit riskier.
    Extracted from defeated enemies.
Can be consumed (at a health penalty) or converted to water for crafting purposes.

  5. Copper Ore
The first ore you’ll mine in Dune Awakening.
    Recognizable by blue-streaked rocks.
Found in Hagga Basin and South.
Requires a basic cutter to mine effectively.

Early Game Crafting Components

Loot from enemies and containers provides early-game crafting components, many of which are vital for advanced recipes.

  • Micro Sandwich Fabric and EMF Generators: Found in chests in caves.
  • Particle Capacitors and Advanced Servos: Found in chests in Imperial Testing Stations (EOLabs).
  • Mechanical Parts and Plasteel Microflora Fiber: Sourced from chests in large shipwrecks and crashed ships.

T2 Resources in Vermilious Gap

  1. Iron Ore
Essential for crafting Tier 2 gear and structures.
Found across rocky terrain in Vermilious Gap.
Requires a Cutter MK1 or better (crafted from copper ingots or rewarded from the "Scrap Metal" quest).
Weekly storms reset spawn locations, so keep scouting.
Water is needed to refine iron into ingots—make sure your water infrastructure can keep up with your farming.

  3. Flower Sand & Spice Sand
These valuable resources push you further into the open desert, increasing risk. Caution is advised!
Flour Sand: White, steamy patches on sand.
Spice Sand: Purple patches tied to random spice blows.
Static Compactor (unlocked via the "Second Trial of Alkol") is recommended for efficient harvesting.
    Hand-gathering is possible but inefficient.
⚠️ Warning: Harvesting on the sands increases your chance of attracting Sandworms. Stick close to solid ground or be prepared to escape fast. The Worrm Meter tracks your risk level - monitor it closely or get eaten!

Once you've mastered resource gathering in Hagga Basin and Vermilious Gap, your next target is steel, for which you will have to explore the Hagga Rift biome, which was locked during the open beta. Steel becomes essential for mid-to-late game crafting. Advancing deeper into the map will open up new biomes, resources, recipes, and opportunities. Once the game launches, we will put out a guide covering all resources for your convenience.
