Dune: Awakening - Fast Track to Steel With This Strategy

During the Dune: Awakening open beta, many players underestimated the role of water in the early game—and paid the price in zones like the Vermillius Gap.

This region offers access to iron-tier crafting and advanced base building, but the resource demands scale up sharply—especially the need for water. It’s not just for survival: you’ll need 75ml of water per steel ingot.

Tip 1: Scale Your Blood-to-Water Production Early

  • Place at least 3 blood purifiers and keep them running nonstop
  • Always carry blood-bags when heading out
  • Build multiple water tanks before you start refining materials
  • Upgrade your purifiers when resources allow

Tip 2: Farm Blood Efficiently

  • Get Kaleff’s Drinker from the Wreck of the Alcyon in Hagga South
  • Each kill with Kaleff’s yields 1000ml of blood
  • Use an exsanguination tool to collect an extra 1000ml
  • Later, switch to Scipio’s Drinker (20% drop chance from Vermillius North Chest)

Tip 3: Maximize Dew Harvesting

  • Always carry literjohns and fill them before returning to base
  • Use a dew reaper just before sunrise for peak yield
  • In Western Vermillius, get the Buoyant Dew Reaper Mk2 (33% drop from Flatrock Clifftop Chest)

Why This Water Strategy Matters

Once you've stockpiled enough water, you can easily hit the 90 steel mark needed for a wind trap—unleashing passive water generation. From there, you snowball hard, unlocking the ornithopter early and leveling across Hagga Basin effortlessly.
