Escape from Tarkov Wipe: What It Means and How to Prepare for Hardcore Season

Timesaver.gg Editorial Team

Timesaver.gg Editorial Team

Hello, mercenary! Today we will talk about an event that everyone in Tarkov meets in their own way. Someone happily dumps the loot, because the character will be reset anyway, and someone shouts that wipes are not needed, because they again did not have time to reach the coveted Kappa.

Be that as it may, the wipe is coming soon, and today we will talk about what it is and how to deal with it.

What Does It Mean?

A wipe in Tarkov is the process of resetting ALL accounts to the starting state of the purchased edition. In your stash, only those items that come with your pack will again appear, the character will again be level 1, without a name and faction.

With a wipe, major updates usually come. This time, we are in for aHARDCORE season, with many restrictions that are bound to complicate our survival and completion of the game (Getting the Kappa "Add quest name").

What Do BSG Promise Us?

Battlestate Games has announced several significant changes for the upcoming hardcore season that will fundamentally change how we approach the game:

Disabled Flea Market

It is not yet clear whether this decision will be maintained throughout the wipe or not, but the start will definitely not be easy for us.

Increased Resource Requirements for Hideout

Yes, many would be ready to not download the new update after this news, but there is a pleasant side. The modules no longer need items received with the "Survived" status. So running around the location and hiding everything in the pouch is again a great idea.

Ammo Crafting Restrictions

Crafting ammunition will be more restricted, making every round count even more than before. This change will force players to be more tactical with their engagements and resource management.

Reduced Rare Loot Spawns

The chance of rare loot spawning in locations will be reduced, making high-value items even more precious and contested.

Location Restrictions

A number of locations will be closed to us behind the transition system. This will create a more structured progression through the game world.

Secure Container Limitations

You cannot put currency, ammo and some medicine in your secure container (pouch). This change will significantly impact how players approach raids and what they prioritize keeping safe.

Merchant Changes

Reduction in the range of available goods, increased selling prices, and decreased the cost of purchasing items from merchants. This will make trading more strategic and force players to carefully consider their purchases.

Bosses with 100% Spawn Rate

No one has yet figured out whether there will be bosses at once in all locations (saying goodbye to our FPS?) or will they change once a day/week? But the mechanics will be introduced 100%.

Increased AI Difficulty

The AI will be more challenging than ever, making both scav and PMC encounters more dangerous and requiring better tactical approach.

Conclusion

Taken together, we are in for a truly interesting gaming experience. Tarkov was not casualized, but on the contrary, made tougher, more interesting. And many are wondering: is this just fan service from the developers, or will we see the game for the first time as it will be on the upcoming release this year (according to BSG promises)?

The hardcore season represents a return to Tarkov's roots as a punishing, realistic survival experience. Players will need to adapt their strategies, work more closely with their teams, and approach every raid with even more caution than before.
